In 2009 Todd Bol of Hudson, WI built a model of a one room schoolhouse as a tribute to his mother, a former school teacher who loved reading. He filled it with books and put it on a post in his front yard. His neighbors and friends loved it. He built several more and gave them away.  Todd partnered with Rick Brooks and in May 2012, the Little Free Library movement was established as a nonprofit corporation.  As of January 2015, there are a total of nearly 25,000 registered throughout the world.  You can visit , click on maps and search for libraries near you. At a Zion & Peace Outreach Committee meeting the proposal was bought forward for us to have a Little Free Library at Zion.  We agreed and decided it could be modeled after the design of Zion’s original white church.  Thanks to Mae Ankerson’s family for the  monetary donation for building materials.  Our library was built, installed, and registered on the website in October 2015.
